INTRODUCTION:-

Chemical fertilizers have played significant role in Indian Agriculture faciliating green revolution
and makind the country self reliant in crop production. However, concentrated and continous use of easily
soluble chemical fertilizers disturb the soil health, leading to acidification, micro nutrient depletion,
soil degradation, reduction in the activity of soil micro-flora and micro-fauna,poor crop health and lower
crop yields and quality. Besides,use of fertilizers may contribute to enviornment risks like increase
global temperature, ground and surface water pollution, etc. In view this is desirable that we may have
to return to less resourse demanding agriculture practises viewing the gaps in domestic production and
nutrient depletion estimated. In this direction, BIO MANURE offers immense scope to small and marginal
farmers in creating their own manure resourses and ways to generate alternative income.

 

SPECIES EARTHWORMS:

Species of earthworms most suitable for vemicomposting are Eiseni Foetida, Eudrilus euginae and
Perinoyx excavatus. Depending upon the heap size about 200 to 500 young adult earthworms of identified
species may be kept in mud spots with moist soil and brought to the site and releases into the culture
heaps. The earthworms for starting a vermicompost unit van be sourse from other farmers who are already
engaged in the activity.

It is very important to save the soil and ultimately the ecology so as to conserve the environment in its
natural way. It is high time we understand that chemicals will certainly destroys the ecology in several ways.
This may one day lead to the changed environment which may suit to the cultivation of our fruit crops. Let us
start minimizing the use of chemicals into the soil and ultimately lead to zero chemical inputs. Vermicompost
as a carreer is material favouring growth of organism. Enriched vermicompost( with bio fertilizer) application as
granular NPK fertilizer microbial biocontrollers and microbial biopesticides for emergig soils crop in combination
with nitrogen fixing bacteria phosphorous solubilising cacteria, potash mobolizers is also are product for the farmers.
